Director Corporate Relations Discovery Communications London

Job Description:
Discovery Communications is looking for an experienced Corporate Relations Director to join the international communications team. They will be responsible for managing Corporate Relations Events, ranging from small-scale to large cross-company projects that are cost-efficient, exceed expectations and deliver world-class experiences. The role is part of a team spread across three locations (London, New York, Washington D.C.) and working with communications teams in DNI’s five international regions – Northern Europe, Southern Europe, CEEMEA, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.
Responsibilities:
Key Initiatives

• Support for Key Corporate Relations Client Events
- Project management position on multiple internal and external events throughout the year including Impact - Day, Ad Sales Upfront, Producer Cocktail Event, Quarterly Town Halls

• Project Management of Discovery’s hospitality program at the French Open
- Day to day management of several client events during the tournament
- Co-ordination role for the event, overseeing a broad team of project managers and functional experts

• Olympic Games Client Relations Program
- Lead on the development of Discovery’s inaugural Olympic Games Client Relations program for PyeongChang 2018
- Operate program from start to end, including vendor accommodation, ticketing, transportation, merchandise and gifting

Key Features
• Strategic Planning: Track-record in strategic planning for small and large-scale events, to support the commercial goals of the business, generate maximum ROI and deliver world-class experiences for guests
• Executive Management: Proven background in managing senior level executives at events
• Regional/Local Coordination: Work with regional communications teams to manage client and executive requirements for events
• Management: Lead and motivate the team responsible for onsite event coordination activities, ensuring they are adequately prepared
• Hospitality: Oversee and execute all client and executive hospitality across events providing high-level customer service to help manage relationships
• Logistics: Managing operational and administrative functions to ensure specific projects are delivered efficiently
• Budgets: Deliver events on time and within budget, negotiating fees where appropriate and tracking costs from start to finish
• Corporate Relations: Help to communicate and maintain brand messaging through events that reflect the company’s ethos and strategy
• Crisis Management: Ability to handle difficult situations under pressure and a proven experience of building crisis scenarios into event plans
Requirements:
• Articulate, organized and proactive with at least 5 years of experience in an events management role, ideally within the sports industry
• Ability to effectively work on multiple projects at one time and proven ability to work under tight deadlines
• Excellent communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills are essential for this highly collaborative position
• Ability to manage budgets whilst delivering to a consistently high standard
• Ability to work with teams in multiple locations and time zones
• Creative approach to their work and the ability to remain calm under pressure
• Languages not essential but a bonus
• Able to travel
